Pre and Post Operative Care

Pre-Operative

  • Are you having surgery in the future and are interested in improving your outcomes after surgery?
Physical therapy prior to orthopedic surgery can be a great way to reduce pain, increase range of motion, and improve strength to help quicken the return of function after surgery.
Pre-operative therapy can range from a one-time visit to multiple visits over the course of weeks to months depending on the diagnosis. Pre-operative therapy will also include training with assistive devices such as walkers, canes, crutches, or slings if needed before or after surgery.

Post-Operative

  • Have you had surgery recently and are looking for help to return to the activity level you once had?
  • Have you had surgery in the past and are not happy with the outcome?
Physical therapy after surgery can play a major role in allowing a patient to return to full function or sport. After surgery, we will focus on reducing pain, improving range of motion, correcting posture, and maximizing strength to help a patient regain function and/or return to sport within the appropriate time frames.
Our physical therapists will work closely with referring physicians to optimize your recovery. This is important since many surgeons have different techniques which require modifications to the plan of care/protocol and will affect your individualized treatment plan.
