Stephen Katz, MD - Orthopedic Surgeon
Dr. Steve Katz is a Board-Certified/Fellowship-Trained Orthopaedic Surgeon who specializes in Sports Medicine and Knee Arthroscopy, Elbow Arthroscopy, Shoulder Arthroscopy, as well as Total Shoulder Replacement. He has a number of national publications on a variety of topics. Dr. Katz has been a team doctor for a number of professional and college athletic teams, including Auburn University, the Birmingham Bulls, the Portland Pirates, USA Hockey, USA Boxing. He lives with his family in West Bath.

Karmen Blackstone, BS, ANP
Karmen is a licensed Nurse Practitioner who works with our physicians. She focuses most of her practice on our sports medicine patients. Karmen is also a first assist in the operating room and is an active part of our provider panel at Coastal Orthopedics & Sports Medicine. She lives with her family in Pownal.

Michael J. Kulju, MD, RMSK- Primary Care Sports Medicine Physician
Dr. Kulju is a Board-Certified Primary Care Sports Medicine Physician specializing in non-surgical orthopedics and comprehensive sports medicine care for patients of all ages and activity levels. Dr. Kulju looks to provide innovative and evidence-based care. He holds advanced certification in diagnostic ultrasound and has served as an educator at multiple American Medical Society for Sports Medicine ultrasound courses. As an advocate for innovative care, he was the first provider in Maine to perform ultrasound-guided carpal tunnel release. He regularly cares for patients using advanced techniques with interventional ultrasound as well as providing patients with cutting-edge biologic therapies, such as platelet-rich plasma injections. Dr. Kulju has experience treating athletes from high school to the professional level, including working with University of Notre Dame and the NFL Combine athletes. On a more local level, he has been a team physician for multiple high schools. Outside of medicine, he enjoys staying active and spending time with family and friends.
